“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Gal.2.20 ESV
“Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.” Luke 9:23-24 NLT
The Cross is the place of suffering and pain not comfort and convenience. Too many of us find ourselves trying to put a cushion on the Cross so it won’t be so ugly and uncomfortable. Our Christianity gets a little too overlaid with gold and stained glass and we find ourselves unable to deal with the reality of life and all it’s pain and inconvenience. We might even leave Church feeling hopeful and inspired and positive for the moment but then the reality of life during the week comes all too quickly and we suddenly feel hopeless, stressed out, and completely confused. Where is God in the middle of all this? As we follow Jesus on his path to the Cross, we learn some painfully tough choices that we need to make in order to discover the true life that Jesus died and rose again to give us. This Cross Training Course will be the toughest course you’ll ever take. As a matter of fact, it will kill you.
